PALEO DIET

Paleo or Palaeolithic Diet is based on a concept that the nutritional needs of modern humans have been shaped during the Late Palaeolithic era, which is some 200,000 to 10,000 years ago. This period, including the most recent Ice Age and post Ice Age years, was long enough make limited human race adapt to the diet dictated by the foods available to them.

PALEO

The world has changed a lot since the austere conditions of the Ice Age times, and similarly our nutritional habits have. However, the Paleo Diet supporters argue that human metabolism has been unable to adapt fast enough to the rapid nutritional changes of the recent few thousand years (agriculture), and especially the last few decades (moss production of the highly processed foods), hence our needs are still the same as of our ancestors.

The Paleo Diet adherents claim that we are unable to properly metabolise some comparatively new types of food (grains, legumes, dairy, and of course the processed foods), which has led to modern-day health problems, like obesity, diabetes and heart diseases. They believe that following the Paleo Diet may help enjoy a longer, healthier and more active life.

How does it translate to the nutritional recommendations?

This is what the Paleo Diet recommends you to eat:

  • * legumes
  • * dairy
